Introducing: A Suite Deal
As a budding Singer-songwriter I'm beginning to realize how hard it is to survive as an artist. Music is hugely important to me so I've been running House concerts for over 2 years now and have put countless hours into promoting concerts, designing posters, cooking meals, cleaning up after the concerts and guests, re-arranging my house into a concert hall, providing inspirational accommodations, and hosting. I never take a cut from the door and I often pay admission for the concerts myself and incur lots of other expenses in advertising, time, food, and in the free offering of my guest suite. The gifts I have received through these house concerts have been immeasurable. I have been made rich with music and friendship.
...But a girl's got to make a living. The trouble is I think that taking money off of struggling musicians is just wrong. There are already plenty of people in the world who are more than ready to do that. Instead, I offer a good old-fashioned trade:
I put on a house concert for you. You get the whole door, (I've seen $75-$400). You help me advertise by providing a paper and electronic poster, which I will circulate to my community and to 300 of my closest friends. I don't have a PA but I've got some Mics and Amps. There are awesome acoustics in this house.
I will cook you a delicious meal for when you arrive and breakfast (approx. $20/per person value) before you leave. You tell me what time you are arriving and what food preferences/allergies you have and try and be here when you say or find a phone.
I put you up in the stunning Pic River Guest Suite ($110-$150 value) provided that doing so doesn't mean that I miss out on a multi day booking.
You help out with the dishes and re-organizing of my house (I don't care if your Elvis, I'm busy too :)
You sell your merch and of course keep all proceeds.
You will love it here and you will have a great time.
I make no guarantees about what you'll get at the door. But I can hold about 55 people here and charge anywhere from $10-$15 (or pay what you can) at the door. At the very least you get an inspirational and beautiful place to stay while you are on tour. If you get a great crowd, it could be very profitable. You do the math.
